Media Consult comes with 6 predefined widget areas(sidebars):
1 for page / post content(default)
5 for footer
You can see them all by going to Appearance › Widgets.
In Appearance › Customizer › Footer section you have the option to enable or disable the footer widgets, as well as choosing the footer widgets column number.
All you have to do is drag and drop different widgets to the default sidebar or the right bar sidebar.
A particularity in this theme is that it supports unlimited sidebars with the Woo Sidebars plugin. You can get the Woo Sidebars plugin from here.
Download, install it then activate it from Plugins › Installed Plugins › Woo sidebars. After you activate it, in Appearance should appear a new option named Widget Areas.
To create a new widget area, click on Add new. Fill the name of widget area and check the pages / posts where you want it to replace the default sidebar from Conditions. To view the custom posts, taxonomy archives, post types, etc make sure you click on Advanced:
This is quite easy and straightforward: just fill all your footer sidebars with the widgets of your choice.
The theme comes with 3 custom widgets:
- MC Custom Categories (displays your categories from a parent category of your choice) - best used to filter your blog posts by children categories.
- MC Recent Blog Posts (displays your latest posts by a certain category) - best used to filter and output your blog posts by parent categories.
- MC Ressource Posts (displays your latest ressource posts by a certain category) - best used to filter and output your ressource posts by categories.
